Get Paid to Buy Your Groceries

Anyone else addicted to apps that help you save money by doing things you’d already do?! Glad it’s not just me. Over the past year or so I’ve become obsessed with the “Fetch Rewards” app.

Overall, the app consists of scanning your grocery receipts and getting “points” based on the products you're buying. You accumulate points until you want to use those points to get a gift card to one of a bunch of different retailers.

Partner Stores

Sound too good to be true?! It’s not! You’re able to scan receipts from a variety of stores including grocery stores, drug stores, liquor stores, and convenience stores.

Some examples of stores they partner with include:

  • Target

  • Walmart

  • Walgreens

  • Aldi

  • CVS

  • Kroger

  • Sam’s Club

  • Costco

  • Hyvee

If you like to shop online, whether that be Amazon, Target, etc., you’re able to connect your email so that those receipts can be counted as well. With COVID we’ve been doing most of our shopping via the Target app and doing drive up pick up. It’s so convenient to be able to log onto the Fetch Rewards app, click the e-receipt button, and get points for those purchases as well.

Earning Points

Earning points couldn’t be easier. You’ll get points just for scanning receipts. “Scanning receipts” consists of taking a picture of the receipt on the app, so that the app can calculate the points you’ve earned.

Say you’re not too particular about the brand of deodorant that you buy, but know that you’ll be getting it at the store later today. You’re able to search for over 300 brands and determine which brand of deodorant you should purchase to get the maximum amount of points.

If we’re being honest, I personally don’t search for all my items that way. I often scroll through the “Special Offers” section, which is featured on the app’s homepage, and if there’s something on there that I need to purchase anyway, I make note of the brand on my shopping list so that I remember to purchase it.

With each receipt you scan you’ll receive a minimum of 25 points, which isn’t bad for taking a picture of your receipt! The points truly do add up over time.

Rewards

With as little as 3,000 points (you get 2,000 points just for signing up with a referral code), you’re able to start earning rewards.

Not only can you earn gift cards to a variety of retailers including Sephora, Xbox, AMC Theatres, Stitch Fix, Crate and Barrel, Nike and a ton more, but you’re also able to use points to make monetary donations to charities you love. How awesome is that?

Another fun perk that makes Fetch Rewards different from other receipt-scanning programs, is that points can be used to book Airbnbs, purchase airline tickets, and book hotels. There’s nothing more fun than saving a little money while booking your next vacation!

How To

Using the Fetch Rewards app is fairly intuitive, however let’s break down how to get the app on your phone and utilize it to the max potential.

  1. Open the app store on your phone and search for “Fetch Rewards”. Or even easier, click HERE to sign up with my referral code “TXFFX” to get 2,000 points once you submit your first receipt.

  2. Download the app.

  3. Open the app and create an account.

  4. Scan your first receipt by clicking the orange camera icon in the lower right corner of the “Discover” screen.

  5. After scanning the receipt, the app will automatically calculate your points for that receipt.

  6. Once you’ve accumulated at least 3,000 points, click “Rewards” on the bottom of the screen or click your total number of points in the top right corner to be taken to the “Rewards” screen.

  7. Decide what reward you’d like or continue to accumulate points for an even bigger reward!

Final Words

With apps like Fetch Rewards that allow you to earn gift cards for making purchases you’d make anyway, you simply can’t go wrong. While accumulating points won’t necessarily lead you to gift cards overnight -  you’ll be on track, with time, to earn gift cards and save money without much effort at all.
